Story 1 – Introducing Elementor v1.9: Never Lose Momentum With Autosave
https://elementor.com/autosave

Elementor is one of the newest Page Builder Plugins for WordPress, and it seems to be growing in popularity.

Chris says that some of the reasons people like Elementor is the company’s commitment to speed, and the template library is massive. He explained that people are working on making it compatible with LifterLMS.

It was pointed out that round-table member Adam Preiser loves it.

Adam then joined the conversation to share his thoughts. One of his favorite things is that they want to build every aspect of your website. Soon, you’ll not only be able to use the builder for posts and pages. You will be able to create headers, footers, and full page/post templates. In December, Adam covered Elementor on his YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJD6L-3IkVg.

John mentioned the autosave function in this new release really stands out along with the ability to work on a post that’s already published in a draft mode. You can add something to a post on your site without people watching you edit live. It’s like having a staging area for your post.

Jonathan sees 3 main players in this space, Beaver Builder, Elementor, and Thrive Themes.

Adam added that you have to remember Divi. People short sell it, but they have a large user base.

Story 2
Pippin’s Plugins 2017 in Review https://pippinsplugins.com/2017-in-review/

Pippin Williamson of Pippin’s Plugins reviewed the past year for his team and business.

Pippin’s Plugins is the creator and maintainer of several popular WordPress plugins including: AffiliateWP, Restrict Content Pro, and Easy Digital Downloads.

With almost 2.3 million in sales, Pippin’s Plugins is one of the shining stars of success in the WordPress ecosystem.

Two key pieces of the article included Pippin’s decision to raise prices on his plugins in 2017 and to stop offering renewal discounts. Both of these decisions caused some complaint within the WordPress community. While many understood his reasons to raise the prices, he said there was very vocal backlash by some.

The roundtable team shared that people won’t notice in a year or two. Just because traditionally people have received discounts and haven’t seen price adjustments in the WordPress space doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do for business.

It was also pointed out that it’s only an issue for people who have been in the ecosystem for a longer period of time. If you’re new to WordPress, and this is the way it is, then you don’t notice a change. Compare this to a time when almost all WordPress premium licenses were Lifetime licenses. That is almost nonexistent now, and if a lifetime license is available it tends to be very expensive.
