Well the (shit hits the fan) with Morten Rand-Hendriksen joining us in this episode of the WP-Tonic’s round-table show and shares some strong views connected to all the recent drama linked to Gutenberg project. He also thinks that this December’s WordCamp US is going to be an interesting one.

I’m personally not that surprised by all the continuing drama linked to the Gutenberg project because the communication management aspect of this project has been shit from the beginning and Matt Mullenweg has to take a lot of the responsibility for this situation.

Also, a lot of people in the WordPress community are now actively questioning if WordPress is an indeed an open source project?

I’m a little bit surprised reaction because personally I’ve never seen WordPress as a truly open source project from day one, to me it’s always been a semi-hybrid community project that’s really controlled entirely by Matt Mullenweg and his company Automattic.

Matt has always wanted both WordPress to be seen as “REAL” open source project covered by GPL license however he has also clearly wants “REAL” total control of the project unfortunetly the two things are to my mind are totally incompatible!
