Take a full backup, set up the new host and create an empty WordPress install, migrate files and the database with a tool like Duplicator, All-in-One WP Migration, or Migrate Guru, then test on the new host before pointing DNS. Most quality managed hosts will handle the migration for you for free, which is usually the safer route for live sites.
