I don’t know some weeks there isn’t any real news in the WordPress world/community and then you get a week like this where the news just explodes!

We discuss a number of hot WordPress news stories in this week’s show.

We start with this story from the Tavern “Jetpack Is Promoting Paid Upgrades on Plugin Search Screen, WordPress Plugin Team Says it “Maybe a Violation” of Directory Guidelines” which was the hot topic of the week on Friday 5th of April it’s now old news with the Tavern reporting this story “Jetpack 7.2.1 Removes Promotions for Paid Upgrades from the Plugin Search Screen.” My God, who the hell is running this ship?

However, we did get this public statement from “Jesse Friedman” of the Jetpack team.

“We made a mistake, and we’re moving to correct it immediately,” Jetpack team representative Jesse Friedman said. “Our intention with these feature hints is to help you discover helpful features of Jetpack that you already have, right when you need them most. Today we’re correcting an error in judgment that resulted in the hints suggesting Jetpack features that actually required an upgrade.”

“We made a mistake” really, I don’t think so. See it’s sadly becoming quite clear to me what Matt Mullenweg ” the benevolent dictator of WordPress” with the help of some of his key henchmen at Automattic are really planning and it’s pretty ugly and totally against his own recent public statements. Basically, he is semi “Gaslighting” the whole WordPress community.
